Hello SMUdents,
My name is Jared Perry and I’m originally from Moncton, New Brunswick. My number one goal this year is to provide students with the best University experience as possible. SMUSA strives to do this in many ways, we provide: activities, societies, special events and student advocacy so that our students can grow and make the most of their time here at SMU! When you come visit me; I will be very open to your concerns and will do my best to make your time here at SMU the best it can be!
As SMUSA President I am responsible for advocating for our students. I also oversee SMUSA’s day to day office activities. I am very passionate about giving back. Last year I participated in Shinerama and Movember and look forward to doing so this coming year! If you can’t find me in my office, chances are I’m at a sports game, studying in the Atrium, or in the Gorsebrook!
There have been many experiences that have taught me essential skills for the position I’m in now! I spent a year abroad in Belgium! That wonderful experience has led me to be the person I am today. As a Residence Assistant I was able to help students living on residence, and sitting on the SMUSA Board of Directors has taught me the rules and policies of SMUSA. I am also very enthusiastic about the work I do with SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise). With SIFE I can see how my actions and the team’s actions have a direct impact on people’s lives.
You will see me walking around campus with a smile on my face. I am very approachable; please don’t let my facial hair fool you. Come visit me on the 5th floor in the Student Centre at any time. I am here to help you out.
