The SMU Women's Centre is located on the fifth floor of the Student Union Building (SUB) on campus. We are open Monday-Friday from 11-4 during the regular academic year. Our office space although small has computers, and a few couches if you would like to either hang out, work on homework or study in a different setting. We are an awesome feminist-centered space that welcomes all genders and orientations. We offer many feminist and women focused events such as Vagina Monologues and activities as well as resources, information and referrals. We have a large library of magazines and movies as well as Free tea, coffee, condoms, pads and tampons. We have partnered with many organizations on and off campus some include Avalon, Venus Envy, SMUQ and South House.
We also have great volunteer opportunities that vary depending on what you want to do. Some of our volunteer opportunities include administrative office work (i.e. answering phone calls and greeting people), promoting events such as making posters, writing for the journal, supervising events, posting on our FB page or working on our newsletter. All hours volunteered at the centre go towards your CCR (Co-Curriculum Record). Our space also offers the chance to connect with others and share ideas that you have that you would like to see happen.
If you have any questions, ideas for events or concerns please contact the centre at firstname.lastname@example.org
