The Saint Mary’s University Students’ Association (SMUSA) was pleased to help Team SMU Shine launch their 2017 Shinerama campaign during the Canada Day celebrations at the Halifax Commons on July 1st. Both former and current SMUSA executives worked the sucker pull, coin toss and face painting station. They managed to give away dozens of prizes, and at the end of the day, the event raised over $500.

According to their website, Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Over 35,000 student volunteers from 50 Canadian universities and colleges across the country come together every year to raise funds to support cystic fibrosis research and care. Last year, Team SMU Shine managed to raise nearly $30,000, thanks to the tremendous support of the Saint Mary’s University community and also the Halifax community.
Team SMU Shine is planning more campaign events throughout the summer, and also during Welcome Weeks at Saint Mary’s. If you would like to get involved in any upcoming Shinerama campaign events, we encourage you to sign-up to volunteer.
