Be the next Health Plan Assistant!

We are looking for 4 outgoing individuals, who are dependable, and possesses strong communication and administrative skills. Students interested in the insurance or human resources field will find this position appealing.

  • Term of Employment:
    August 26 - September 27, 2024
    (5-week contract, part-time hours)

    Rate of Pay:
    $15.70 per hour

    Location:
    This role is in-person, on-campus.

    Time Commitment:

    • Must be available to work the weekend of August 31 to September 2, 2024 (between 9:30am to 4:00pm).

    • During September, shifts will be approx. 5-10 hours per week, based on availability and will occur between the hours of:

      • 11:00am – 2:00pm

      • 4:00pm – 7:00pm

  • Working under the direction of the Health Plan Coordinator, you will:

    • Cultivate a positive and welcoming space, while providing accurate assistance with health plan inquiries.

    • Facilitate health plan booths on campus to promote the health plan, support the opt-out period, and help students access their benefits and plan cards.

    • Respond to student questions in a positive and timely manner by email, phone, and in-person.

    • Record detailed notes on unanswered questions, so the Health Plan Coordinator can follow up.

    • Compile and maintain confidential student data (electronically & manually).

    • Accurately record information in Excel for statistical purposes.

    • Provide administrative assistance to the SMUSA front desk (5th floor) to cover lunch breaks/meetings.

    • Other duties relevant to the position, as assigned by the Health Plan Coordinator.

  • To apply, you must be a registered Saint Mary’s student for the 2024/2025 academic year and be a member of the Saint Mary’s University Students’ Association (SMUSA), meaning you are enrolled in at least one academic course.

    • Candidates must be friendly, outgoing, and willing to engage with students in-person, by email, and by phone.

    • Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills are required.

    • The candidate should also possess the ability to use sound judgement and maintain confidentiality when dealing with student information and sensitive situations.

    • Experience using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) is required.

    • Previous administrative experience or experience with the insurance field will be considered an asset but is not required.
