Code of Student Conduct

Promoting the rights, well-being, and safety of community members at Saint Mary’s University

What is the Code of Student Conduct?

The Code outlines actions/behaviours which the university considers to be non-academic misconduct offences and the range of remedies and/or sanctions which may be imposed.

As a Saint Mary’s student, you can access free confidential counselling, mental health services, and opportunities to support your well-being.

    • Online peer community moderated by mental health professionals available 24/7 for post-secondary students to get mental health support.

  3.  Tranquility

    • Internet-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy program that includes online modules, interactive tools and one-on-one virtual coaching (through text messaging and/or weekly video or phone sessions) for up to 26 weeks for individuals with mild-moderate anxiety and depression.

Online Resources

  1. Therapy Assistance Online:

    • E-mental health resource with modules, self-guided tools, progress measures and a mindfulness library.

  2. Mental Health Advocates:

    • E-mental health program hosted via Brightspace which includes modules on various mental health topics. Completion of MHA is eligible for CCR hours.

Campus Resources

  1. Student Health Clinic:

    • An on-campus medical clinic offering health care to all Saint Mary's students. Three physicians and a Registered Nurse (RN) are on staff.

  2. Sexual Violence Support

    • The Sexual Violence Advisor receives disclosures and/or reports of sexual violence from students, staff or faculty and can offer short and long-term support for various needs as a result of sexual violence. They also provide prevention education and training.

Community Resources

  1. Avalon Sexual Assault Centre:

    • provides services for individuals affected by sexual violence, with emphasis on support, education, counselling, and advocacy.

  2. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE):

    • registered nurses provide 24/7 response and immediate care for individuals who have experienced sexual assault or abuse.

  3. The Family Focus:

    • offers walk-in medical services and virtual care, in addition to family practice.
