Our club aims at providing excellent training opportunities for students through seminars and weekly debate practices; which happen twice every week. During these practices, the debates will be conducted according to the parliamentary debating guidelines - and we follow British Parliamentary style in Fall semester and Canadian Parliamentary style in Winter semester. We encourage and train students to take part in tournaments as debaters and judges, representing Saint Mary's University. We also conduct a lot of fun social events throughout the semester, so make sure to stay informed!
This will be a fantastic learning experience for students, wherein we emphasize on maintaining a super fun and a very equitable environment during our practices, while they also have the opportunity to learn how to articulate better and debate in so many different ways!
We are actively recruiting students from all academic and skill levels throughout every semester and we believe that it is essential to propagate the importance of debating skills because it helps improve critical thinking and analysis, which can come in handy in a lot of situations (thank us later haha!)
