Danielle Richard
Hi! My name is Danielle Richard, and I recently graduated with an Honours degree in Psychology from Saint Mary's University. I am currently completing additional courses to meet the requirements for a Master's program in counselling, to become a school counsellor. I have experience in research, academic writing, and statistics, as well as a strong foundation at SMU. My Honours thesis explored the role of peer support in shyness and flourishing in late adolescence, which allowed me to learn about the benefits of receiving peer support. Beyond academics, I've also gained practical experience working with children through years of childcare and my role as a child support worker.
As someone who understands the challenges of being a student, I recognize how overwhelming the pressure to succeed can be. I strive to create a supportive environment where others feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and creating effective study strategies. Over the years, I have developed valuable skills in study techniques and stress management that I am eager to share with others.
In addition to psychology, I am fluent in French. I grew up in an Acadian community and completed my entire education through grade 12 in French, which has given me a strong foundation in the language. I have also taken many of SMU's French courses and would be happy to support students who are looking to learn or improve their French skills.
If you are looking for patient, approachable, and encouraging support in psychology or French, I would love to work with you and help you succeed!
