Sydney Walker

My name is Sydney Walker and I have recently graduated with a honours degree in Psychology from Saint Mary University. Following my undergrad, I have begun working as a researcher for the Centre for Research in Family Health at the IWK. I plan to take this year off before pursuing a Masters in Clinical Psychology with a long term goal of becoming a registered Psychologist.

I have always had an interest in mentoring/ offering peer support. This has been demonstrated through my numerous volunteer experiences in the area of peer mentoring such as; Kids Help Phone, 7 cups Online Counselling, Cam’s Kids Foundation, and March of Dimes. In 2019, I tutored three sections of the course Critical Thinking (PHIL1200). I really enjoyed helping students to improve their academic confidence and recognize their own abilities. Throughout my undergrad, I have accumulated many study strategies, best practices, and resources that helped me to succeed academically. I recognize that it is easy to become overwhelmed by a long ‘to-do’ list. However, I believe that with proper organization, prioritization, motivation, and guidance each student can reach their potential. If you are struggling with any of these facets, particularly with a course in the Psychology department, I would love to meet with you and discuss to determine if we are a good fit.
