My name is Liza Zahid, and I am a third-year Marketing and Management student rerunning for SMUSA President.

I decided to run again because many of my concerns with the association are shared by students across campus. Over the past three years, I’ve intentionally built the experience, insight, and skills needed to lead effectively. I’ve spent two years gaining a deep understanding of SMUSA, SMU departments, and student needs, followed by a year focused on building external experience and strengthening the hard and soft skills required for this role.

I have worked across campus in Residence, Student Life, and Societies, and I am the Founder and President of the SMU Formula 1 Society. I’ve written for the SMU Journal, volunteered extensively with initiatives like The Food Room, and currently

work as a Project Coordinator at the Arthur L. Irving Entrepreneurship Centre. Beyond campus, I work at Bean, a Halifax-founded startup, and have previously worked at Magnetic World.

Through these experiences, I’ve built strong communities, meaningful partnerships, and a valuable network — all of which I want to leverage to bring real opportunities to students. My platform focuses on employment initiatives, advocacy, and housing solutions, and is rooted in action, transparency, and student-first leadership.
